چکیده

In the last decade computerized neutron tomography has experienced a number of improvements which were realized by different groups, but which became not so familiar as the well known “old” signals known from radiography and tomography. So it seems to be useful to give a summary over all known neutron imaging signals that will be used nowadays and to give some examples of them. The distinction between incoherent and coherent signals appears to be helpful concerning the wide range of (possible) signals that are use for imaging and image processing . The kind of signals will be limited to the ones that have been already used in neutron tomography, so there will no discussion about e.g. electric field tomography or impedance tomography.

A STUDY OF GAMMA RAY EXPOSURE BUILDUP FACTORS IN STRATIFIED SHIELDS FOR POINT ISOTROPIC SOURCES, INCLUDING THE EFFECTS OF INCOHERENT AND COHERENT SCATTERING

The effects of including incoherent (bound-electron) and coherent (Rayleigh) scattering in exposure buildup factor calculations for point isotropic gamma ray sources, penetrating a two-layer water-lead shield have been investigated in the gamma ray energy (E?) range of 40 keV to 3 MeV. Incoherent scattering decreases the values of these factors in both layers up to E? ~ 200 keV and the effect i...

Ferritic Alloys with Extreme Creep Resistance via Coherent Hierarchical Precipitates

There have been numerous efforts to develop creep-resistant materials strengthened by incoherent particles at high temperatures and stresses in response to future energy needs for steam turbines in thermal-power plants. However, the microstructural instability of the incoherent-particle-strengthened ferritic steels limits their application to temperatures below 900 K. Here, we report a novel fe...

Tomographic Incoherent Phase Imaging, a Diffraction Tomography Alternative

Quantitative phase imaging (QPI) is a powerful method to visualize semi-transparent samples in a quantitative manner, in particular for thin samples. In standard setups, coherent illumination only gives access to limited object frequencies, in particular along the optical axis, avoiding accurate 3D visualization of thicker samples. In diffraction tomography, the object frequency space is filled...

Phase Unwrapping On Reconfigurable Hardware

There exist several applications that make use of coherent signals for imaging purposes. Coherent signals contain information about both magnitude and phase as opposed to incoherent ones that just contain magnitude information. Applications utilizing such signals include Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), optical interferometry and adaptive beamforming. Such appli...

Investigation of Coherent and Incoherent Laser Beams Propagation Through Turbulent Atmosphere

In this paper propagation of combined laser beam through atmosphere is investigated. Laser beam is combined via lens array arrangement. Turbulence is considered as an affecting factor of atmosphere and its effects on transverse coherence length (Fried parameter), peak intensity, propagation efficiency, and spot size of the laser beam is investigated. Coherent and incoherent combined beam are co...
